Our Approach

Looking at the whole child

Movement does not happen in isolation. A child’s physical skills are shaped by their health, confidence, interests, environment, opportunities to practise and the people supporting them. Our approach considers all of these things, then builds therapy around the goals that matter in daily life.

Individual to every child

We begin by listening to your family and understanding your child’s strengths, needs and routines. Assessment helps us identify what may be making a movement or activity difficult, but the plan is never based on a checklist alone. We consider what your child wants and needs to do at home, in education, in the community and with their peers.

Evidence based and play based

Our physiotherapists use evidence-based assessment and treatment, delivered in a way that is engaging and appropriate for your child. For babies and younger children, this often looks like floor play, movement games and practice woven into familiar routines. For older children, therapy may use their interests, sport, exercise or real-life physical skills to keep goals meaningful.

Families are part of the therapy team

Parents and carers know their child best. We explain what we are seeing, why a strategy may help and how it can fit into everyday life. Home activities are designed to be realistic rather than overwhelming, so progress can continue between appointments.

The right setting for the goal

Some skills are best assessed and practised in our purpose-built clinic. Others make more sense in the environment where the child will use them. Your physiotherapist may recommend one setting or a combination of settings as goals change.

Working with the wider team

When appropriate, we collaborate with your child’s doctors, therapists, educators, orthotists, equipment providers and support team. Shared goals and clear communication help make recommendations consistent and useful across different parts of the child’s life.

Reviewing what works

The approach may change as your child develops, gains skills or takes on new challenges. We review progress with your family and adjust the goals, frequency, setting or type of support so therapy continues to be relevant.
