Gentle, expert support from the earliest weeks

Babies develop at their own pace, but you do not need to ignore a concern or wait until it becomes more obvious. Our paediatric physiotherapists assess movement and development, explain what they see and give you practical ways to support your baby at home.

Parents often contact us about

A baby physiotherapy assessment

We begin with your pregnancy, birth and medical history and the changes you have noticed. Your physiotherapist will observe how your baby moves in different positions and may assess head and neck movement, head shape, muscle tone, reflexes, joint movement and age-appropriate motor skills.

Assessment is gentle and paced around your baby’s feeding, sleep and comfort. Where appropriate, we may use a standardised developmental assessment to build a clearer picture of current skills and progress.

Support that works at home

Most of a baby’s learning happens through everyday care and play. We will show you positioning, handling and play ideas that can fit into routines such as floor time, carrying, feeding and nappy changes. The plan will be specific to your baby and adjusted as they grow.

Trust what you are noticing

You know your baby best. If something about their movement, head shape or development is worrying you, an assessment can provide useful answers and a clear plan. You can contact a paediatric physiotherapist without a referral.
